Is anyone else reading their way through this year's LMFA ballot? My gosh, I've been reading for days and I'm only halfway through the gen ballot. What an amazing treasury of outstanding stories -- I'm having a great time, but I have NO idea how I'm going to be able to choose which ones to vote for because there's such a wide mix of excellence in each category, at least so far, and I'm assuming that will hold true. Old, established writers, new and amazing writers, some like myself who've been around for some time but not forever, humourous stories and ones you need a box of tissues for, though neither are necessarily in angst or humour categories, and AUs galore (and certainly not at all just in the AU category), and whole series of stories, but again not under 'series' but under other categories. A truly incredible wealth of riches. Regardless of who eventually 'wins', I hope this ballot will be retained as a list of recommended stories, much like the old nomination lists were preserved. I've found authors I haven't read before, and bookmarked their pages to go back and read more when there's time.

I very much hope everyone will read everything before voting this year, if only to be sure no one misses some treasures you might not otherwise know about. The one story I know I'll vote for isn't one I nominated but one I'd never heard of before. Man, this year its really, really tough to choose ... but that's a good thing! My congratulations to everyone on the ballot for your outstanding contributions, and my thanks to you, for giving us such wonders to enjoy!

I've kind of started. And I agree about the nominations list being a good reader guide. I used to check it out just for that purpose before I joined lj. I considered it a goldmine. This is my first time voting, though, and I want to be fair so I intend to relook at all the stories before I vote.
It will probably take me a while though.

I've voted in the art section, but that's as far as I've got as yet. :0)

::looks at long list of stories that need to be read before I can vote and hopes November doesn't come around too soon::

I'm really looking forward to reading my way through the sections; so many good fics. Totally spoiled for choice. And previous lists are what I used to get acquainted with the fic when I first got here, a year ago; they're a great source of good fic.

It's taking me a *long* time to read all the noms, and I only get a very little time to read fic these days. I thought, when the announcements went up and everyone on my flist, it seemed, were getting multiple noms, that the hard choice was going to be which, of all the amazing writers on my flist I should vote for - but there's a ton of stuff I've never read and a few writers I've never read and...

Hard. Very!
