Update

Thank you, each and every one of you, who have been so supportive over the past few days! Wanted to let you know the good news that the warranty is paying for a whole new engine. I'll be here another week, while that work is being done and we all take time out to celebrate New Years, but that's just a couple extra nights beyond what I'd originally planned. LOL, worse places to be 'stuck' than Orange County CA!

And the allergy attack seems to have ended with no further problems. I'm on the prednisone and anti allergy med prescribed, and doing fine. Not entirely sure what did it, but for now I'm blaming the nasal spray to clear stuffiness just before I went to bed. I've used it before but I've also developed allergies to other medical products after repeated use. So, no lasting harm done and I have the lovely memories of all those gorgeous young men who were so very helpful. ::grins::

Happy New Year, Everyone!

Thanks, sweetie!

By the way, would you email again with the info on that great seaside lunch place, and any good places to stay for a night in the area? haymarilyn7 at gmail.com

Oh, sorry, further planning this weekend has ended up with us deciding to postpone the visit to the UK. These additional unexpected expenses have blown a hole in my available funds, so we're choosing a less expensive one week rental in France instead of a driving tour for two weeks.

Really do want to meet up with you at some point, though, so will let you know when we'll be doing the UK tour.

Not to worry luv - one of these days, eh? *g*

Though France sounds lovely too - and after all the hassle you've had recently it'll be a very much deserved break. ♥

I'm so pleased you are feeling better with no recurrence and for the car. I have a Hyundai too and they dealt with my warranty problems as well with an initial "we need to involve Hyundai", but in the end they dealt with everything perfectly. Though I am a bit miffed I wasn't stuck in Orange County CA!
Have a brilliant New Year while they fix it.
Brand new sparkly engine - cool!

Take care

I'm so relieved the warranty has come through. Always a bit tricky traveling for extensive periods in another country!

Had a great time with Aly in Orange Olde Towne -- 3 hour foodie tour! Very cute place and neat food, too! Gotta love Orange County! ::grins:: We're getting together with Betsy from Moonridge tomorrow for lunch.

Wow, I go mostly offline for a few days and everything falls apart! I'm so glad that things are getting pieced back together again, and I very much hope that you don't experience another allergy episode!

Well, you see, it's all your fault, going off line and not keeping me in line! ::grins:: Sure hope you enjoyed or are enjoying your time away.

Allergy reaction seems to be all under control, thank goodness.

Thanks so much! Have to say it's a real relief given how much this might have cost!

That's great! And a new engine rather than a repair - with a repair you sometimes have this niggling fear that the problem will recur. A new engine solves that.

Glad too that the allergy seems fine. Now you look after yourself and have a great time over New Year!

Looking forward to the weekend ... lots of fun stuff planned, and Merlin/Magician is getting together with us for New Year's Eve! We're going to have a Sentinel Eve!

Hope the winds have calmed down.

M - will you still be around Monday or Tuesday? I was thinking of driving down to hook up with you and Aly, if my husband decides to work. Let me know what your plans are - would love to finally meet you both!

Yes, I'll be here until Thursday am at least ... will take four to five working days to put in a new engine and with the holiday on Monday for New Years, I expect it won't be done until Wednesday.

I'm staying at the Ayres Suites Hotel in Mission Viejo, just off the 241. 949 455 2545. Room 106. Email is haymarilyn7 at gmail.com We could get together with Aly for dinner if not during the day (she has appts on Tues and Wed). We're thinking of doing a movie and lunch on Monday. Would be great to get together with you!

Marilyn,

It's looking as though I probably won't get down to the OC during this visit - I'm so sorry! I thought it might be doable, but my husband is off work today (we only have one car), and tomorrow my son has an unexpected class he's taking beginning tomorrow.

I'm sorry about the whole car mess, but I know Aly has really appreciated your visit. I guess that's the silver lining in all this!

Keep me posted on your plans -if you end up being stuck here again on Thursday, that might work out better for me. In any event, I remain optimistic that we'll meet in the (in my case, considerable) flesh at some point!

Take care, and good luck with the car.

Suzanne, LOL, I think 'considerable flesh' would describe all of us. As it happens, I'm going to try to get another loaner car tomorrow and, regardless, will head back to the desert until the car is fixed. Just too expensive to wait around here in hotels when the engine hasn't arrived yet and they don't seem to know when it will. I'll return when the car is ready, probably next week.

Can you send me an email at haymarilyn7 at gmail.com and I'll let you know when I'll be back in Orange County, in case we can connect then.

This is wonderful news about Hundai (can't remember how it's spelled. DUH) Anyhow, this is good news for the upcoming year. That car will run smooth as silk once that is done. I'm also glad to hear you're feeling better. How nice for Aly that you'll be there for another week. Woo Hoo. Don't you girls party, too much. Happy New Year.

Dec. 30th, 2011 07:37 am (UTC)
LOL -- is it possible to party too much? Neither of us drink, or not much, so 'party' doesn't have quite the same connotation, but we're having a very good time! ::grins::

Such a relief about the car, though. Was a bit terrified of what it might have cost.

I'm just catching up on LJ now...

And good grief! Okay, great way to meet (cute) guys but is it worth the hassle?

I'm glad you're feeling better now, and I hope your car will be fine with a whole new engine. Fingers crossed you've used up all your bad luck for the next year or two. ::hugs::

Dec. 30th, 2011 06:48 pm (UTC)
LOL, no, definitely not worth the hassle, but if there's a hassle anyway, then might as well have some eye candy, right?

Thanks for the good wishes! I definitely hope this was all the bad karma kick back for a good long time! :)

yay! *hugs*

getting a new engine in your car is basically like having a new car without all the hassle of moving your GPS and first aid kit from one car to the other ;p

hope this is an omen that your new year is gonna go smoothly! :)

Thanks, sweetie. I'm still waiting for the new engine to come in, let alone be installed in the car. This is NOT the time of year to have a breakdown! But yes, eventually, it will be essentially a new car, five years younger than appearances would suggest. ::grins::

*pets you and tells the idjits to work faster*

no, it's a bad time of year to break down. hopefully the new engine will get in soon

on the upside, you'll be able to beat young idiots in drag races because they think you're driving an ancient junker ;p

*hugs* hang in there
