Merry Christmas!

Aly and I have been having a good Christmas: dinner last evening and Aly toured me around several neighbourhoods to look at the pretty lights and today she made me brunch and we opened gifts and are currently talking to Luna on the phone.

Before I came to the coast, I received a beautiful Christmas table arrangement with three red candles, crimson ribbons, pine boughs, roses and carnations ... lovely but with absolutely no indication who sent it! I called the florist and they didn't know who had sent it either!

So, if you sent me a gorgeous Christmas arrangement, thank you so much!!!

LOL, well, it's all in the timing. A day earlier would have been a problem, especially as I'm staying in downtown Laguna Beach! As it was, it took nearly double the usual time to get to Aly's place because of having to skirt around flooded areas. I'm pleased that I'm getting to know this part of So Cal so well that I can detour or know when to get off and where to go when I-5 suddenly turns into a parking lot. And it's raining again tonight. Was a bit nervous driving through Laguna Canyon where water was already beginning to pool again, not half an hour after the rain had started!

How was it where you are in LA?

I don't think it was as bad as expected. My son and I were out of town, luckily, and my husband as well. He got back on Wednesday, after the worst of the storms, and while our enclosed porch was somewhat flooded (pigeon guano is astonishingly corrosive on a fiberglass roof), we really had no problems. I'm sure the low lying areas were flooded, but really nothing as bad as the Laguna area and other parts of OC. Things just went a little farther south than anticipated, I guess. Just glad that you and Aly were able to get out and about. I'm sure she was thrilled with your visit! Let me know when you next plan to drive in from the desert and I'll try to come down to meet you both!

I'm glad you were inundated! And who knew about pigeon guano being so corrosive!!!! Is there anything you can put on the roof to seal and protect it?

I'll let you know when I'll be back in Laguna Beach. Right now, it looks most likely for 23 and 24 March. I'll be bringing Sylvette (from France) and we'll be meeting up with Aly, Penny (from NYC) and hopefully Chris (Luna on LJ), so that might be a good time to get together!
